Cow Bench by Sophia Wojnovich

Sophia Wojnovich is an artist and engineer based in Detroit, Michigan. Born in Upstate New York, she holds a BFA in Fine Woodworking and Furniture Design from the Rochester Institute of Technology and an MFA in 3D Design from Cranbrook Academy of Art. With a foundation in traditional craft, Wojnovich explores themes of vulnerability through furniture, performance, and sculpture.

Her studio practice spans large-scale furniture, small-scale artifacts, and immersive installations. Her work brings a sense of play and whimsy into adult spaces, drawing on the language of childhood. Thoughtful choices in material and form invite interaction, curiosity, and emotional engagement. Her furniture pieces, often bold in scale and simple in form, ask to be touched, approached, and experienced. In doing so, they shift focus from the object itself to the feelings it evokes in the person encountering it.

Wojnovich believes beauty belongs to everyone. Beauty belongs everywhere. Alongside her studio practice, she designs and produces accessible objects for everyday life. She aims to bring moments of joy, comfort, and wonder into the spaces we live.
