Description & Details
“Support” explores the quiet strength found in community. Origami cranes—symbols of resilience and connection—float through a dreamlike waterscape, where a red bridge hovers above a bed of waterlilies. The bridge, both literal and symbolic, evokes the idea of shared paths and collective strength. Areas of torn-away surface reveal layers of origami paper beneath, suggesting the unseen structures and stories that uphold us. Heavy texture and diamond patterning ground the piece in a tactile presence, creating a balance between fragility and support, solitude and togetherness.
About the Artist: Megan Lui
Megan Lui is a mixed media artist based in the Detroit area, who works with acrylic paint, spray paint, and ink on canvas, while using modeling paste and collage paper to create texture. Using natural forms against geometric abstraction, her work finds the structure within chaos. Through texture, form, and vivid color, her paintings are surreal observations of our modern existence.
Megan has a Bachelor’s Degree from Wayne State University. She has exhibited throughout metro Detroit and in Toronto, with paintings in private collections internationally.
