Sorry for the glare!!!!
Sorry, some glare in this shot!
This is the first in a short series of 3 48"x60" works dedicated to the Venice Biennale.
One of the first goals I set as a young artist in the 90s was to show at and/or attend the Venice Biennale. I learned about the show in my first year of art school via an old Art in America magazine laying around the school studios. To me it was (and still is) the greatest showing of work in the most historically romantic and fantastical location on the planet, and to date I have been fortunate enough to both visit and show...exploring the Biennale for 10 magical days in 2011 and then showing in 2013 with a group sponsored by the Luciano Benetton Collection and Library Street Gallery in Detroit. The experience was purely magical, and I hope to go back...
About the Artist: Jon Parlangeli

I relish the fact that there are no straight paths through the creative process. It’s never just a decision of the red pill or the blue pill, so I've blissfully spent years of studio time exploring mediums and methods of conveyance...all of which opine to the space between real and abstract. Standing over such processes is my chosen artistic signature, color. Born partially color blind I use color as a weapon of indelicacy often pushing beyond subtle yet achieving a cosmopolitan of sublime.
I grew up in and around Detroit, eventually attending and graduating from Wayne State University in 1994 with a BFA in painting. There, under the watchful eye of Detroit figures such as Peter Williams, Tom Parrish and Michal Luchs, I absorbed a true culture of artistry and independence that continues to inspire my work today.
My works have been shown in the US and internationally and have been placed within corporate and private collections throughout the US, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
