Description & Details
I've always enjoyed getting outside after a good storm. To me the smell of rain represents a washing of old and bringing of new in the form of flowers and greenery literally popping out everywhere. It's as if the rain turns on a switch and everything just explodes! To that, this work is poetically moody, soft, yet also bold, stemming from the emotions created by the heavy storms this past weekend. In the aftermath the daylight was gentle, almost dim, and yet the colors were brilliant and bright against the blue-pinks and grays. The blooms were alive and danced about in the winds, so I was a bit frantic in trying to capture the moment before it faded!
About the Artist: Jon Parlangeli

I relish the fact that there are no straight paths through the creative process. It’s never just a decision of the red pill or the blue pill, so I've blissfully spent years of studio time exploring mediums and methods of conveyance...all of which opine to the space between real and abstract. Standing over such processes is my chosen artistic signature, color. Born partially color blind I use color as a weapon of indelicacy often pushing beyond subtle yet achieving a cosmopolitan of sublime.
I grew up in and around Detroit, eventually attending and graduating from Wayne State University in 1994 with a BFA in painting. There, under the watchful eye of Detroit figures such as Peter Williams, Tom Parrish and Michal Luchs, I absorbed a true culture of artistry and independence that continues to inspire my work today.
My works have been shown in the US and internationally and have been placed within corporate and private collections throughout the US, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
