Description & Details
I've been watching a lot of interviews with Rick Rubin lately, and really respect the way he motivates. Its pretty simple according to Rick...keep pushing and don't let anyone stand in your way of creating. Stay out of your comfort zone too. Comfort is the death of creativity!
This work is dedicated to Rick and his good advice.
About the Artist: Jon Parlangeli

I relish the fact that there are no straight paths through the creative process. It’s never just a decision of the red pill or the blue pill, so I've blissfully spent years of studio time exploring mediums and methods of conveyance...all of which opine to the space between real and abstract. Standing over such processes is my chosen artistic signature, color. Born partially color blind I use color as a weapon of indelicacy often pushing beyond subtle yet achieving a cosmopolitan of sublime.
I grew up in and around Detroit, eventually attending and graduating from Wayne State University in 1994 with a BFA in painting. There, under the watchful eye of Detroit figures such as Peter Williams, Tom Parrish and Michal Luchs, I absorbed a true culture of artistry and independence that continues to inspire my work today.
My works have been shown in the US and internationally and have been placed within corporate and private collections throughout the US, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
